Texas Tax Code Chapter 312 grants local jurisdictions the ability to offer property tax exemptions to attract new industries and retain existing businesses that create new jobs and capital investment. Click HERE for more information.
A “Freeport Exemption” is when inventory and personal property detained in the State of Texas for the purposes of assembling, storing, manufacturing, fabricating and processing is eligible for exemption from ad valorem taxes as long as the property leaves the State within 175 days of being acquired or brought into Texas. In Northwest Harris County, Aldine ISD, Klein ISD and Spring ISD are qualifying taxing jurisdictions granting the exemption.
