Launching this week is the creation of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce volunteer corps, the Chamber Champions. Some twenty-plus Chamber members will have convened for the first time this week to kick off the program. The intent of the program is to generate a more visible Chamber presence at Chamber events, whether it be ribbon cuttings, luncheons, networking events, and to also serve as volunteer helpers at some of the larger chamber events, like the annual Founder’s Cup Golf & Croquet Tournament and the NXNW Economic Outlook.
This program will function differently from other previous Chamber ambassador programs in that there will be no score keeping or point system to monitor individual attendances at events. Yet, Chamber Champion members will still get recognition and perks for participating. We recognize the majority of our members are small business owners and it is not always easy to get away from a place of business to attend a Chamber event. The desire is for the program to be fun and fulfilling for those involved, without the undue pressure of feeling the need to be at every single event.
The coalition is being co-chaired by members Courtney Foreman with North Houston Hearing Solutions and Grace Schaper with ADHN Services. Courtney and Grace have been working side-by-side with staff and 2025 Board Chair, Davina Hosick of Home Bank in the planning and visioning of how the program will function and the culture they would like to create for the group. The kick-off meeting at Palapa Coastal Cantina in Vintage Park will give the chance for the group to get to know each other, some for the first time, and provide a brief orientation on the parameters and expectations going forward.
The Chamber is limiting the size of active members in the Champions group, but there are still some slots open. If you or an employee or colleague you think would be interested in participating, please contact Sandy Barton at 281-440-4160 or sandyb@houstonnwchamber.org or visit the Chamber website at HoustonNWChamber.org to learn more about the program. To participate, your company or place of work must be a member in good standing.
